Grace period expired on RSlinx.gw .exe .OEM?

While running Factory Talk SE the above files say they are not activated. Despite running the 15 screen licence! Already applied patch on answer ID50163 this removed the problem it was meant to. message said Grace Period has Expired The product has not been activated and has been operating without activation for a grace period of seven days. This grace period has now expired. You will not be able to start the product until it is activated successfully. The following activations were not successful: RSLINX.GW, RSLINX.EXE, RSLINX.OEM, RSLINX.SN (To see what activations are associated with which products, see “Activation file names associated with products” in the FactoryTalk Activation Tool online help.) Try the following solutions to resolve the issue: 1) Check that the path to the activation files is set correctly on the Settings tab of the FactoryTalk Activation Tool. 2) Confirm that the activations are available on the Current Activations tab of the FactoryTalk Activation Tool. If all are used, free one up. If none are available, check the server connection. 3) See the troubleshooting section of the online help for the FactoryTalk Activation Tool. thanks Mal3000

Re: Grace period expired on RSlinx.gw .exe .OEM?

Mal3000, I guess you're using a View SE Station...do you need to use RSLinx Classic OPC server for your SE Station or are you using embedded RSLinx Enterprise?

Take a look to the following KB; SE Standalone doesn't activate RSlinx Classic by design :smileysad:

Aid 27087

Hope this helps....

Re: Grace period expired on RSlinx.gw .exe .OEM?

Yes Iam using view SE station & trying to use the embedded RSlinx enterprise. Looking through the FT diagnostic viewer when first bringing system up. It starts RS linx enterprise then after this comes up, the grace period problem occurs.

When trying to run a client says there is no communication between FT & the processor hence all the graphics are the standard not filled in condition. Have the activation for both FT V studio for FTV enterprise & FT view SE station 15 display. The latter should activate the RS linx enterprise.

There is another alarm (RnalarmDector, RTE_error_critical,process:RnaAlarmDector.exe) getfilefromstorageEx() failed, hr=0x80070002,failename='alarm Event one.dtt'

Not sure about any of this

Thanks

Re: Grace period expired on RSlinx.gw .exe .OEM?

Mal3000, the grace period indication in FT diagnostic should not be an issue for you, as you need to use RSLinx Enterprise, that is a different software...

Unless you've also configured an RSLinx OPC data server in your application... instead of RSLinx Enterprise... :smileysurprised:

The communication problem could be related to a wrong comm path for your PLC...

Double check your data server configuration (take a look to the attached screenshot that shows the right and only selection you need, in order to use RSLinx Enterprise).

Again, SE Station doesn't activate RSLinx OPC server; you'll need a separate activation for it if you want it as your data server.

Hope this helps...

Re: Grace period expired on RSlinx.gw .exe .OEM?

I had exactly the same error message displayed in Factory Talk View Studio ME, which was using RSLinx Enterprise. The licenses for RSLINX.EXE and RSLINX.GW were shown as being installed correctly. The message appeared in View Studio whenever I started Linx Classic to look at PLC's on the same network. The problem appeared to start after I downloaded new firmware to a L35E processor using Linx Classic. The link crashed the first time but the firmware downloaded successfully at the second attempt. After that, I had the error message displayed in View Studio. I reinstalled the latest version of Linx Classic, and the error message disappeared.
