Hi Just wondering if anyone can clean up a small frustration I am experiencing.
When I come the forum site via an IE link or via the links in my emailed subscribed forums I nearly always have to log in. I'm wondering if it has something to do with forum security? I use the same laptop all the time to browse the site but I do do it from several locations / sites and sometimes via a VPN.
Thanks in advance.

There are two reasons I can think of from your description.
- The forum shares a login with the Knowledge Base and the KB login forces you to relogin every 12 hours. There are security reasons for this, but what triggered us down this road was Distributors/OEMs etc going to customer's sites, logging in with their special access ... then leaving without logging off. Customers were getting permanent access to contract and above level information as long as they were careful not to log off their computers. The automatic timeout fixed this problem.
- The cookie that holds your login information for 12 hours, like any other cookie, can be confused if the network changes drastically (ie, like switching from a VPN'd connection to a standard connection ... moving from one company network to another network).
Hope this helps,
JHutch
