I'm currently upgrading from RSLinx 2.54 to 2.55 and having a hard time with the installation. The installer started with the removal of version 2.54 without any problem. Once the removal was completed the installer asked to reboot the computer. Now the computer is stuck in a reboot loop. Every time it reboots a pop-up comes up and says "Your computer must be rebooted now..." It appears that the task RSIRO.EXE added to the start-up by the installer is the one causing the reboot. If I remove it from the start-up the computer will not ask to reboot anymore. The installer also added a key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->Software-->Rockwell Software-->RSIRO=c:\AB\RSLinx Classic 2.55\Redist\RSLinx\ENU\Setup.exe
From my understanding this has to do with .NET files that need to be installed prior to RSLinx. I just don't understand why the installer doesn't go trough the install process and gets stuck in this loop. I was successful upgrading 2 machines from 2.54 to 2.55. 2 other machines got stuck in the reboot loop upgrading from 2.54 to 2.55. Please help!

You've not mentioned your OS... it could be useful to know it

Anyway, it has happened a time to a customer of mine, Tech Support suggest us the following:

Remove the RSIRO.EXE file from startup (already done )

Open the installation disc, go to the Redist\RSLinx\ENU folder.

Double click the RSLinx.msi file.

This will bypass the install console and take you directly to the RSLinx Installshield Wizard.
